Apparently, T-Mobile execs have downplayed the need for the LTE network, whereby their Chief Network Officer mentioned that the LTE network only represents a ‘niche’ market for the telco. On the other hand, Neville Ray also mentioned that the company already got their 4G network deployed, however, the network’s performance is somewhat slower than existing HSPA+ network speeds.
Personally, I believe that LTE or 4G networks are truly targeted at the niche market. In fact, I don’t think that there will be many users using these high-speed wireless networks, as clearly, cabled networks are significantly faster as compared to the wireless network. And with 4G network plans costing significantly higher than cabled plans, this pretty much pushes the 4G networks to the corner, which is the niche market.
Do you think that the LTE network will receive tremendous response from the public?
