It’s rather inevitable that RIM is loosing marketshare for the smartphone market, whereby more consumers are now turning their attention to the Android smartphones. Nevertheless, RIM knows their current standings in the market, whereby they took drastic measures in order to secure their future survival. Basically, RIM made plans to acquire infotainment specialist QNX Software Systems sometime in April this year, whereby sources have indicated that RIM intends to use QNX’s software for their future tablets.

On the other hand, sources have also indicated that RIM might be working on their own version of a tablet, dubbed as the BlackPad. In fact, RIM has already allocated a whopping $200 million in investment to make things work, and I’m guessing that they will start doing more acquisitions in the near future, for the sake of developing their tablets.

BlackPad anyone?
