Although Obama has signed a deal with the Russian counterpart earlier this year to limit the overall nuclear arms in both countries, Obama has yet again signaled for another arms-control deal with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, during his visit in Singapore. Of course, the earlier arms deal which both Obama and Medvedev signed earlier this year, will see the reduction in the total number of nuclear warheads to between 1,500 and 1,675 within seven years. The U.S. has a total of 2,200 nuclear warheads in their arsenal, and Russia has 2,800.

Personally, I think that it is vital that both nations signed the arms control deal, as clearly, this will help the nations to reduce the risks of firing nuclear bombs at one and another. I remember clearly during the 70s and early 80s, where people built nuclear fallout shelters in their homes, as they feared that both America and Russia might go into a nuclear war – the threat of a nuclear war was pretty surreal!

And with the further reduction in nuclear arms by both nations, I’m pretty sure that this will help create a nuclear free world – at least we get to live longer, perhaps?
